Iowa High School Battle of the Books

High school students from across the state of Iowa are invited to participate in the Iowa High School Battle of the Books. Form a team of up to 6 students in grades 9-12, talk to Mrs. Wirtz (AHS Teacher Librarian and the coach for all AHS teams) and read the books!

For the 2022-23 school year, we have one Battle of the Books team. We are looking for additional members. Please see Mrs. Wirtz in the media center if you are interested!

Books and Bagels

If you are interested in joining Books & Bagels, fill out this form to get reminder emails about our meetings.

Books and Bagels is a joint project between Ankeny High School and Kirkendall Public Library. For the 2022-23 school year, we will meet the first Friday of each month from 7:45-8:15am in the AHS Media Center.

During our meetings, students visit with others about the books they are reading. We do not require everyone to read the same book. Rather, we share with each other and help build each other’s TBR list! The YA Librarian from Kirkendall Public Library will bring bagels for us to share together while we discuss books.
