AHS SPA Conferences Postponed
Ankeny High School Student-Parent-Advisor (SPA) conferences that were scheduled for Monday, February 8, will be postponed until Monday, February 15 (the scheduled snow date). Conferences will be held from 4-8 pm, and parents will retain the same time for their conference unless contacted by their student’s advisor.

Public Education Forum February 16
The Ankeny Parents’ Association will hold a public forum at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, in the large conference room of Kirkendall Public Library. The forum is free and open to the public. Topics will include school facility planning, the district’s transition process to two secondary feeder systems, and planned curriculum updates. Read more...

Polk County Health Dept. H1N1 Flu Clinic
According to a message from the Polk County Health Department (PCHD), children under 10 years of age need two doses of the H1N1 vaccine to be fully protected. PCHD records indicate there are over 11,000 children in Polk County who still need their second dose of H1N1 vaccine. Children received some protection from the first dose, but the first dose essentially “primes” the immune system for a second dose. Read more about Polk County Health H1N1 vaccination clinics here...

Possible 18-week Report Card Error
Please be informed of a possible error printed on the 18-week report cards from first semester. Due to a technical issue, the GPA and class rank printed on the first semester 18-week report card may be inaccurate. Student-Parent-Advisor Planning Conference (SPA)
The Student-Parent-Advisor Planning Conference (SPA) will be held on February 15, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. Sophomore and Junior students will attend the SPA Conference.

After-Prom Donations
Ankeny's Junior-Senior Prom will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010. The After-Prom Party follows the dance from midnight till 5:30 a.m. All juniors and seniors are welcome to attend, whether or not they attend the Prom dance. Last year, over 950 students were treated to a SAFE, fun-filled evening. It takes the support of parents and the community to make this worthwhile event possible. The After-Prom Committee asks parents of all junior and seniors for a $25.00 donation to help defray the costs of the event. Parents are welcome to mail their donation to Ankeny After-Prom, PO box 1181, Ankeny, IA 50021.
Seniors may mail a small baby picture and wallet size senior picture for the "senior wall." Keep in mind the pictures will not be returned. Please write your students name on the back of both pictures. Money and Pictures will be accepted until March 31, 2010. However, for planning purposes, your prompt attention is greatly appreciated .
