AFTER PROM 2025

Guardians of AHS Juniors and Seniors,

Now that winter break is over, it’s time to think about spring, Prom and After Prom…

Please read this important information regarding After Prom 2025!

For more than 30 years, Ankeny parents have come together to provide a safe, fun environment for kids on the night of Prom – this event is known as AFTER PROM and is funded PURELY through donations from parents and local businesses, and put on COMPLETELY by parents and volunteers. This event is not sponsored by the high school or the Ankeny Community School District.

No pre-registration required – and everything is FREE!

Who: All AHS juniors and seniors and any registered Prom guests may attend After Prom

Where: After Prom is held at AHS – we utilize the gyms and cafeteria space

When: After Prom is held from 11:00pm-4:30am, Saturday May 3-4

What: Games, Prizes, and Entertainment

  • Inflatables, silent disco, temporary body art, casino, games, caricature artist, magician, hypnotist, etc.
  • Food, food, and more food – pizza, BBQ, sandwiches, cookies, drinks, etc.
  • Prizes, prizes, and more prizes!

DONATIONS: In an effort to keep the event free to all students, we rely solely on donations. Any amount helps!

Parent Donations – To help pay for After Prom events we suggest a $30 parent donation. You can either Venmo @ankenyafterprom or mail a check to: After Prom, PO Box 1181, Ankeny 50021

Business Donations – If you own or work for a company that would like to partner with After Prom, please send us an email at ankenyhighafterprom@gmail.com We are a 501©3 organization and will provide a tax donation receipt. Donations of $250 or greater receive social media shout-outs and will be placed on the After Prom t-shirts.

Employer Matching – Many employers offer matching gift programs, either in the form of matching monetary contributions or donating employees’ hourly wage for volunteer hours. This is a fantastic way to double the impact of your donation or volunteer work.

FUNDRAISERS: We will host multiple fundraisers throughout the spring. Here are two that have already been set up:

  • Adult Prom – This one is just for the adults. Invite your friends and join us for a night out Saturday, February 22, 7:30-11:00pm at the District Venue for a Decades-themed Adult Prom. $35/person; Register via Venmo @ankenyafterprom. This is one of our biggest fundraisers. We’d love to see you there!
  • Jethro’s BBQ – Visit ANY Jethro’s location between Dec 20th – March 30th and let your server know that you are there to support Ankeny After Prom; 15% of your bill will go right back to After Prom. Valid on Dine-in or take-out food and drink.  

VOLUNTEERS: After Prom would not be possible without parent volunteers before AND during the event. We’re still looking for a few people to serve on our planning committee, if interested please send an email to  ankenyhighafterprom@gmail.com and be watching for a signup genius to be sent out soon to volunteer during the event.

SENIOR WALL: We’ll present a “Senior Wall” during After Prom that will display a photo of each senior “then and now”. If you wish to participate, please send TWO digital photos, one of your student as a child and one as a senior, to ankenyhighafterprom@gmail.com. Please include their name in the subject line. Deadline to submit photos is April 18th.
