Ankeny High School Announcements
AHS Show Choir Fall Show Blitz tickets now on sale online:
It's SHOW TIME!  The AHS show choirs, Visual Adrenaline, Perpetual Motion and Intensity will debut their first public performances of the season.  Each performance will also feature exclusive individual and small group musical numbers, including Cherry Coke and After Hours! 
  • Friday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 9 at 3:00 p.m.

Any remaining tickets can be purchased at the door.  Ankeny High School is located at 1155 SW Cherry Street.  Parking is offered in the southeast lot, closest to Kum & Go.  Enter through the auditorium doors.   Refreshments will follow each performance.  AHS show choirs are under the direction of Lisa Kelsey and Jonathan Brugioni.


Seniors Order Your Cap and Gown
Jostens presented information to the senior class on October 15 about how to order cap and gown, commencement invitations, etc.  Students who were unable to attend can see Mrs. Porath in Guidance (room 2102) for a packet or visit www.iowagradshop.com for more information. Last date to order is December 5, 2014 to avoid late fees.

SENIORS: Do you know how you'll pay for college? Get info at the ICAN presentation -
If you’re a senior planning for college (or the parent of one), you probably have questions about the financial aid process. AHS and ACHS seniors can find answers during a free presentation by the Iowa College Access Network (ICAN) hosted at Ankeny Centennial High School Tuesday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m.  Learn more about the program here.
AHS celebrates high academic achievers:
On October 15, 2014 Academic Letter Awards were presented to Ankeny High School students who had an unweighted cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.67 or higher at the end of the 2013-2014 school year.  View the AHS Letter Award recipients here.

AHS to stage production of "FOOLS!" October 31-November 2:
The AHS Drama Department will present the play, FOOLS! October 31 at 7:30 p.m., November 1 at 7:30 p.m. and November 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the AHS Auditorium.  Tickets are $5 for all attending, and will be available at the door.  This slap-stick comedy is unforgettably funny and promises to have you rolling on the floor with laughter!  Don't miss it.  If you have questions please contact the AHS Activities Office at 963-4335.
 
November 6 flu clinic location changed to Southview Middle School -
The Polk County Health Department flu clinic originally scheduled to be held at Ankeny High School on November 6 has been changed to Southview Middle School at 1020 SW Cherry Street.  Please note this change of location.  Ankeny Community School District is again partnering with the Polk County Health Department to provide seasonal flu vaccination clinics, and vaccinations will be available to all staff and students, and to the public.  Learn more about the flu clinics here.
Winter clothing donations available November 2 and 3:
If you are in need of winter outer wear for your Ankeny student(s), the F.E.W.D. (Faith and Education Winter Donations) program, supported by Project Fresh Start through the Ankeny Community Education Department, will distribute donated winter clothing on:
  • Sunday, November 2, 1:00-6:00 PM
  • Monday, November 3, 4:00-8:00 PM
  • Clothing pick-up center will be open at 502 North Ankeny Blvd. (in the strip mall with Papa Murphy’s Pizza). 
No need analysis form is required to receive needed winter wear.  Recipients will only be asked for student age and proof of Ankeny residence (such as driver’s license or a bill with an Ankeny address).  View more information on the donation drive.
Daylight Savings Time Ends This Weekend
Don't forget:  Daylight savings time ends and we return to "standard time" this weekend at 2:00 AM Sunday, November 2.  Remember to set your clocks back ("fall back") one hour Saturday night.
