Ankeny High School Announcements
This Friday last day to buy tickets for Booster Bash:
Tickets are on sale now until Friday, April 25 for the Ankeny Booster Club’s First Annual Booster Bash Dinner and Auction. The event is May 3 at the FFA Enrichment Center on Ankeny's DMACC Campus. Individual tickets for the event are $35 each with whole tables for up to 8 also available. Tickets can be purchased at Funds raised will benefit Ankeny Hawks and Ankeny Centennial Jaguars Athletics. Prom information for parents:
On April 26, Ankeny High School and Ankeny Centennial High School will host a joint Prom for juniors and seniors. The event will be at the Val Air Ballroom from 9:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. Parents who would like to view Prom decorations at the Val Air Ballroom are asked to do so between 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. In order to ensure the safety and security of all students, the Val Air will be closed to the public and only students will be admitted beginning at 8:00 p.m. Parents who would like to take pictures of their students will need to do so prior to student arrival at 8:00 p.m. Thank you for your cooperation.
AHS Students to Host Human Trafficking Community Forum:
Human trafficking is going on today, right here in Iowa, and a group of Ankeny teens intends to raise awareness through an upcoming community event. A Generation Rising: Human Trafficking Forum, will be held on April 30 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the AHS auditorium. Read more about the upcoming forum.
Senior Spotlight Night 2014
Seniors who have earned scholarships or departmental awards will be honored at Senior Spotlight Night in the AHS auditorium on May 15 @ 7:00 p.m.  All seniors may support their peers by attending the program but only those receiving scholarships will receive an invitation. Share your scholarship information with us by downloading the spotlight night form here. Forms are due in the AHS Guidance Dept. by April 30.

AHS Show Choir ends season in top 10 at Nationals:
After traveling to competitions around the midwest, Ankeny High School’s varsity show choir "Visual Adrenaline" recently culminated its competition season by performing at Nationals on the stage where country music was born – the Grand Ole Opry. The group of 52 performers placed eighth overall among the 34 show choirs competing in Nashville, Tennessee. Read more about their perfomance at Nationals here.
Mandatory pre-registration for AP testing
All juniors and seniors who have registered for AP exams must attend one of the following pre-registration sessions:
April 22 @ 7:50 or 3:45
April 23 @ 3:45
Additional information was mailed home to students who registered for AP tests.  Sophomores taking AP tests will pre-register during their AP class. For questions please contact AP teachers or counselors.
AHS students selected to finals in Design Challenge:
Three Ankeny High School students were selected to the finals in the Second Annual Design Challenge for Affordable Housing. The jury chose junior Bryan Stamper, senior Christine Orlanes and junior Cole Schenck to present to a panel of judges on April 26 at the Pappajohn Center in downtown Des Moines. Their work will also be featured on KCWI-23’s "Great Day" program on April 21, at 8:40 a.m. Read more about the competition here.
After Prom - Everything you need to know
Ankeny After Prom –For AHS and ACHS is April 26 Following the Prom Dance. After Prom is held at Ankeny High School. Doors open at Midnight. Entrance is west doors by the Activities Office. No admittance after 1:30 am. To get the complete information click here.
SENIOR Meeting held
Seniors met with counselors and administrators on April 9 for information regarding commencement, etc.  Most students immediately filled out and submitted their forms to counselors.  Those seniors who were not able to attend the meeting may access the forms that were distributed here:

SENIORS - Baccalaureate Time Change
Baccalaureate is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14 at 7:30 PM at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church.  This is a change from the time originally reported.  A copy of the updated senior calendar and planning guide is available here.

Booster Club Summer Camps registration open:
Take advantage of excellent opportunities for your child to develop and maintain fitness while improving sports skills and techniques. Coaches from AHS, ACHS, Northview, Southview, Parkview, and Prairie Ridge will be coaching at an abundance of camps this summer to benefit students of all ages. Go to to view camps and register now!

Honors Science qualification and application:
Letters regarding Honors Science placement for incoming 6th–11th grade students were sent on March 24-28 to those who qualify. The district offers Honors Science courses to middle and high school students based on student academic need.
If your student did not receive a notification letter, and wishes to enroll he/she can complete an Honors Science application for consideration. Applications are due April 30. Please contact the Ankeny Extended Learning Program (AELP) teacher or principal at your student’s school if you have questions.

City seeks applicants for crossing guard positions:

The City of Ankeny is in need of school crossing guards and substitute crossing guards. This position pays $13.00/shift. If you are interested in becoming a crossing guard, please complete an employment application as soon as possible at city hall or online.  Deadline to apply is April 25.

After Prom seeking volunteers:

Ankeny After Prom is using an online volunteer sign up program this year. It  takes many hands to fully staff a successful and safe After Prom Event.  Please sign-up by clicking on the link below and sign-up for the area you’re interested in and specific shift(s).  If you have already showed an interest in volunteering to the After Prom Committee, you will still need to go to this site and sign up.  For those that do sign-up to volunteer at After Prom, please enter on the West side of the Ankeny High School using the doors North of the main entrance. You'll need to check in at the Registration area where you'll receive further information and instructions.

Before and After-School Program registration is now open:
Registration for the 2014-2015 Ankeny Schools Before and After-School Program is now open.  Select the links below to register your student.  Registrations are time-date stamped and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  

School surplus items “garage sale” auction is now open:
The Ankeny School District is holding its annual inventory surplus sale. Unlike the past in which the district has held a “garage sale” format, beginning this year we will utilize K-Bid, an online auction service to sell surplus items.  Our auction is now OPEN and will close on April 23.  Photos are available online, or appointments to inspect items in person can be made by calling 515-480-1604, or emailing Please visit the K-Bid auction site here to view items for sale and bid.

Interpreting Your Student's Iowa Assessments Scores
In January, Ankeny students took the Iowa Assessments test, which replaced the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) and Iowa Tests of Education Development (ITED) last year. Test results are now being sent home to parents.  Ankeny Schools provide several resources to help you interpret your student’s test scores.   It is recommended that you review this online information.

Second Semester 12-Week Reports Online for Grades 6-12
Ankeny secondary schools' 12-week midterm grade reports are now available in Infinite Campus.  Midterm reports are not sent via mail; paper reports are not sent until the end of the semester.  Midterm grades may viewed via Infinite Campus.  If you need to set up in Infinite Campus account, please e-mail
