5. Psychology First Aid for Teens–Project Recovery Iowa
As you are all aware, our Teens are currently dealing with a great deal of stress and anxiety. In response to this we are offering a Psychological First Aid course
March 29
th and March 31st, 2022

Teens Training Teens Psychological First Aid (PFA) Learn skills for Psychological First Aid (PFA) a 3-hour online course designed to help high school students gain skills to manage distress and cope with post-disaster stress and adversity.

This will help teens who want to learn new skills for dealing with crisis and support others in the aftermath of a disaster or traumatic event.

PFA is offered by Iowa high school students across Iowa who will train others in becoming ready to deal with crisis and trauma response.

The course takes place on March 29th and 31st from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

ICR Future Career & College Fair: Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 12:30 – 3:00 PM

The is unlike any other in Eastern Iowa, bridging the gap between career exploration and college/training selection, to help students make informed decisions that align career interests with education and training selection.

More than 100 colleges, universities, apprenticeship representatives, and career experts will be present with breakout sessions on employer expectations, career training, college planning, Iowa’s job outlook and more.

Master Builders of Iowa Career Fair: Interest Form 

Master Builders of Iowa is hosting a Career Fair in Ankeny on Tuesday, March 29th from 10:00AM – 1:00PM.

The purpose of this event is to connect students with opportunities in the commercial building industry that is offering some of the most rewarding and high paying careers available.  Parents are welcome to attend!

This Build Iowa Career Fair will run from 10:00 AM—1:00 PM. Lunch will be provided to all attendees FREE OF CHARGE. The event is held at the Courtyard Des Moines at 2405 SE Creekview Drive Ankeny, IA 50021.

DMACC Criminal Justice Club Career Fair

Expecting 50 agencies to attend including law enforcement, corrections, colleges, and private sector employers. This is a great opportunity for students to network with various agencies. Even if students are not ready to enter the workforce, representative from these agencies will explain these future career opportunities. Career Fair is March 10th 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM in building 5 DMACC Campus 2006 S. Ankeny Blvd. Ankeny, IA 50023.

Students Interested in Careers in Health, Food Science and Nutrition

The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN) at Iowa State University is pleased to invite your students and their families to the upcoming Find Your Future in Food and Nutrition Through Science Day on Friday, March 25, 2022. The event will take place on Iowa State University’s campus.

Visit campus to:

-Learn about Food Science and Human Nutrition careers

-Meet and interact with current college students and faculty

-Participate in educational activities related to these career fields

There is no cost (other than parking) to attend this day full of activities to explore majors and careers in Culinary Food Science, Food Science, Diet & Exercise, Dietetics, and Nutritional Science.

Construction or Landscaping Summer Job Opportunity

$11/Hour + $1500 Scholarship

As a valuable member of our Summer 2022 crew, you will gain hands-on work experience in the construction trades and play an integral role in bringing workforce housing to Central Iowa communities.

About the Scholarship: To encourage high school seniors and college students to enter the construction or landscaping/horticulture trades, we are offering THREE individual scholarships to be applied toward a program certificate, two year, or four year degree in of the these fields. 

Eligibility and Information

Must be willing to learn and be committed to a career in construction or horticulture.

Must work as a laborer for Kading through the 2022 Summer. 400 work hours required to be eligible for scholarship

Kading provides fuel to and from the job site and provides lunch each workday.

Scholarship will be paid directly to the Community College/Trade School/University program of your choice upon completion.
