All-State Music Festival
Three Ankeny High School band members and nineteen Ankeny High School chorus members were selected to participate in the 2009 Iowa All-State Music Festival. Rachel Jones, Emma Jones and Aaron Ehrlich were selected to play clarinet in the All-State Band. Mackenzie Green, Molly Halferty, Gabrielle Hartmann, Kylie McGill, Mikaela Nabity, Amanda Riggins, Kourtlin Churchman, Jamie Cisna, Katelyn McDevitt, Lauren Stratton, Brian Duerson, Tyler Perry, Ethan Peterson, Michael Rogers, Josh Beeman, Michael Clawson, Tim McGrath, Nick Robertson, and Nick Vanderah were selected to sing in the All-State Chorus. William Xie was selected to move on to the final round of auditions for All-State Accompanist on Wednesday, October 28.
The 2009 All-State Music Festival will celebrate the 63rd anniversary of this prestigious event. District auditions for the 279-piece All-State Band, 198-Piece All-State Orchestra and 601- member All-State Chorus were held Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Storm Lake, Hampton, Manchester, Harlan, Indianola and Fairfield. Approximately 17% of the students who audition are selected for the All-State ensembles.
Participants will rehearse in Ames on Friday and Saturday, November 20 and 21, and the Festival Concert will be presented at 7:30 P.M. in Hilton Coliseum in Ames on Saturday evening, November 21. Iowa Public Television will record the concert for re-broadcast scheduled for Thursday, November 26 at 7:00 P.M.
